Backup for weather. Coastal Karnataka weather can turn quickly outside the dry months. Ask what the covered alternative looks like before you fall in love with an open-air plan.

Guest logistics. Udupi and Manipal are well connected by road and rail, but confirm parking and shuttle arrangements for a large guest list, especially at beachfront properties with limited approach roads.

How we photograph Udupi weddings

We shoot across Udupi and Mangalore regularly enough that we know which hour each of these venues turns from good to exceptional, and that hour isn’t always sunset. Samyuktha and Darshan married at a UVA-group resort near Kundapura in a morning-to-noon ceremony held indoors, and the frames that held up best came from reading the window light in the mandap hall — soft, directional, and changing slowly enough through the late morning that we could plan around it rather than chase it.

If you are choosing between a coastal resort and a city venue in this region, our advice is simple: visit at the time of day your ceremony will actually happen, not at noon on a site tour. Light is the one thing you cannot fix in editing.
